Description:

An extraordinary opportunity to own a piece of musical history from Steinway & Sons’ coveted "Golden Era" of piano manufacturing. This 1930 Model M (170 cm / 5'7") embodies the unparalleled acoustic prestige, structural mastery, and warmth of tone that defined craftsmanship during the interwar years.
This specific instrument is a collector's dream, featuring a highly sought-after and rare period natural wood finish (satin), offering a warm, organic visual alternative to the common black lacquer.
Condition & Preservation:
• Acoustic Core: The soundboard is structurally sound and retains excellent acoustic projection, tension, and crown. It shows no fractures or cracks in the wood grain. There is only a minor, regular hairline separation (thin as a hair) running along the original glue joints of the wooden planks. This is a purely physiological and natural vintage settling that matches the factory slope and connection points, without any impact on the instrument's structural or tonal integrity.
• The Keyboard: The original, historic ivory keyboard is 100% complete across all components and vertical fronts (key heads and tails). It shows the beautiful, unique, and natural age-related color variation typical of authentic period ivory—a true badge of vintage authenticity.
• Cabinetry: The external casework is structurally sound. In keeping with its nearly 100-year history, the natural wood finish displays a graceful patina with minor surface scratches, character marks, and localized dulling/fading.
Recommended Maintenance (Left to Buyer’s Preference):
To bring this Golden Era icon to its full potential, it requires a deep technical interior cleaning (string area, soundboard, and keybed to remove historical dust) and a simple, non-invasive hydration/revitalization of the external wood patina using traditional methods (no stripping or total refinishing required).
